This plant is native to Iran and often grows in Central Asia. In Iran, it grows in the mountainous regions of the north, center and west of the country, at altitudes of 1800 to 3000 meters above sea level. This plant grows spontaneously in many pastures of Iran and can also be cultivated through seeds.
According to the cause and location of galbanum gum release from the plant, there are two types of galbanum in Iran:
1- Galbanum en larmes
The Galbanum en larmes are naturally secreted from the base of the stem and leaves of the plant as a result of stem breakage, insect bites, or scratches.
2- Galbanum en sorte
Galbanum en sorte is obtained by human intervention and creating a gap on the plant.
galbanum species have many uses in the field of medicine and various industries, and it is used in the perfumery and pharmaceutical industry, as well as in the manufacture of cosmetic products. In the food industry, it is used as a flavoring and deodorizer, and galbanum gum is used in the preparation and production of a special type of glue called diamond glue.
